Spring Training Baseball Games

Right after we got home from New York, Aunt Jean and Uncle Mike came into town for Spring Training. Uncle Mike's sister's son is Eric Byrnes, an outfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks, so Jean, Mike, and a bunch of Mike's family came to Tucson to watch some games. Cole and I went with everyone on Friday for the first game against the White Socks, and then Andrew joined us Saturday. I was amazed how intently Cole would watch the baseball players. Cole also thought that the organ playing was fun - especially when everyone sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the seventh inning.

During the Saturday game it was pretty funny when Eric's wife shared a snow cone with Cole - Tara and Cole had it all over them! Eric was kind enough to sign a baseball for Cole - it reads "to Cole, first baseball game 2008". The ball will be a neat momento for Cole as he gets older. We wanted to go to more Spring Training games, but were thrown off that idea by the early arrival of Mr. Parker. Andrew has taken Cole to a University of Arizona game and we are looking forward to my parents and Jean & Mike coming to Pheonix for more games in September.

By the way, throwing balls and swinging at them - with whatever he can find - are Cole's favorite past times right now. Between watching the golfers tee off and watching the baseball players, Cole has caught on quickly to swinging at balls and throwing them. We are constantly dodging balls in the apartment, whether you know it or not, Cole plays catch with you! Poor Parker has been hit by a couple of fly balls (nothing more than a light tap!)

Cole enjoying his water bottle and ice. Cole loves to eat ice and thinks that any water bottle he sees is his.

The game!

The crazy Butler family. (My face looks so chubby - my belly looked the same! Luckily Parker made his debute five days later!)

Aunt Jean and Uncle Mike.

On the way home from the game, Cole zonked out with his new baseball hat on.
